Uterine Fibroid Removal
Uterine Fibroid Removal, also known as myomectomy, is a surgical procedure to remove noncancerous growths (fibroids) from the uterus. It is recommended for women who have symptoms like heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, or infertility. The procedure can be done via open surgery, laparoscopy, or hysteroscopy depending on the size, number, and location of fibroids. It preserves the uterus, allowing the possibility of future pregnancies.
Laparoscopic Myomectomy – Minimally invasive removal of fibroids through small abdominal incisions, suitable for small or moderate-sized fibroids.
Hysteroscopic Myomectomy – Removal of fibroids using instruments inserted through the vagina and cervix, ideal for fibroids inside the uterine cavity.
Uterine fibroid removal is advised after imaging tests such as pelvic ultrasound, MRI, or hysteroscopy confirm the presence of fibroids. Other tests may include hormone levels and endometrial biopsy to rule out other causes of abnormal bleeding or infertility
