Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy
SBRT is an advanced form of external beam radiation therapy used to treat liver tumors with high precision. It delivers intense doses of radiation to the tumor in a limited number of sessions, minimizing damage to healthy liver tissue. SBRT is ideal for patients with inoperable liver tumors or those not eligible for surgery or other local therapies like TACE or TARE.
CyberKnife – A robotic system that adjusts beams to target the tumor in real time.
Linear Accelerator-Based SBRT – Uses advanced imaging and beam control to deliver focused radiation from multiple angles.
Diagnosis involves imaging like contrast-enhanced CT or MRI to determine tumor size, location, and proximity to critical structures. Liver function tests and PET-CT may also be required. A radiation oncologist evaluates eligibility and plans treatment accordingly.
