Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic and surgical procedure used to examine the inside of the uterus. A thin, lighted tube called a hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and cervix to view the uterine cavity. It is commonly used to diagnose abnormal bleeding, investigate infertility, or remove fibroids, polyps, and adhesions. The procedure is typically done under anesthesia and has a short recovery time.
Diagnostic Hysteroscopy – Used to inspect the uterus for abnormalities like fibroids, polyps, or septum that may affect fertility or cause bleeding.
Operative Hysteroscopy – Performed to treat conditions such as fibroids, polyps, adhesions, or septum using surgical instruments passed through the hysteroscope.
Hysteroscopy is typically recommended after abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, or recurrent miscarriages. Ultrasound, blood tests, and gynecological exams are conducted before the procedure to assess the need and ensure suitability.
