EPS RFA Procedure
EPS (Electrophysiological Study) and RFA (Radiofrequency Ablation) are procedures used to diagnose and treat abnormal heart rhythms. EPS identifies the source of arrhythmias by mapping the heart’s electrical signals using catheters. RFA uses heat energy through a catheter to destroy small areas of heart tissue causing irregular beats. This combination is minimally invasive and offers permanent relief from many types of arrhythmias.
Diagnostic EPS – This involves inserting catheters into the heart to map electrical signals and locate arrhythmias.
Therapeutic RFA – After diagnosing, targeted ablation is done using heat energy to treat arrhythmias like SVT, AFib, or VT.
EPS with RFA is recommended when arrhythmias are confirmed via ECG, Holter monitoring, stress testing, or echocardiography, and when medications or lifestyle changes have not controlled the irregular heart rhythm.
